Monday 21 May | LUCIS master class Islamic Finance | Leiden University
On Monday afternoon 21 May, two prominent practitioners and academics in the field of Islamic finance will present a LUCIS master class at Leiden University. With this first master class, LUCIS aims at providing academic and practical knowledge to professionals and academics working in the field of Islamic finance. Time: 13.00-17.30 hrs (followed by drinks). Fee: € 50 for professionals; € 5 for students. Location: Gravensteen (room 011), Pieterskerkhof 6, Leiden.
The master class is intended for professionals (lawyers, bankers, policy makers) as well as academics. Prof. Dr Monzer Kahf (Qatar, United States) will discuss the practice of Islamic banking in the Muslim world, and Dr Kilian Bälz (Germany, Cairo) will discuss its relevance in the Western world. The aim of the master class is to discuss the current state of affairs regarding Islamic finance, and for the participants to actively engage with the two speakers.
